Opt for well-draining soil and amend it with manure and compost. Rather than placing it in a perennial garden, select an area where Lily of the Valley can spread and serve as a groundcover.
How to Plant Lily of the Valley Roots
Loosen the soil to a depth of 12 inches. Make sure the hole is deep enough to accommodate the root length, leaving about an inch of space above the crown. Then, backfill the hole and lightly cover it with soil.
